How Much Does a Shopify Redesign Actually Cost?

Ask five different people this question and you'll get five different answers, most of them vague on purpose. Nobody wants to commit to a number before they've seen your store. Fair enough, sort of. But it also leaves you trying to scope a project with zero sense of what's realistic.

Here's an actual number to work with.

The Short Version

A full Shopify redesign starts around $2,800. That covers the whole store: homepage, product pages, collection pages, cart, every piece that shapes how a customer actually moves through your site. Development on top of that, turning the design into a working custom theme, starts at $3,500. Some projects need both. Some just need one.

Why the Range Is So Wide Industry-Wide

A five-page brochure site and a 200-SKU store running subscriptions, wholesale pricing, and three product variants each both fall under "redesign," and they're wildly different jobs. What actually moves the number:

  • How many page templates you need. A PDP, a collection page, and a cart page are each their own design and build. More templates, more hours.
  • How much of the current build survives. Sometimes the theme's fine and only the product pages need work. That's a smaller job than starting from a blank canvas.
  • Custom functionality. Subscriptions, a build-your-own-bundle tool, anything past standard Shopify behavior adds real dev time.
  • Whether content's ready. Product photos and copy already done means less work than a redesign that's also waiting on a photoshoot.

What You're Actually Paying For

A redesign done right starts with where people currently drop off on your store, then builds the new version around fixing that specific problem. Design and dev happening separately, different people, different handoffs, is usually where scope creep and surprise costs sneak in. One person doing both keeps the number you're quoted close to the number you actually pay.

Getting a Real Number

Pricing a store before anyone's actually looked at it is a guess dressed up as a quote. Tell me what's going on with your site and what you want to change, and I'll send back a real scope built around your store.
