What Does a Shopify CRO Audit Actually Include?

You're getting traffic. People are landing on your store, maybe even adding things to their cart. Then most of them leave without buying anything.

That gap between visits and sales has a name: conversion rate. And a CRO audit is just a structured way of figuring out why that gap exists on your specific store, instead of guessing.

What Gets Looked At

A real audit goes through your store the way an actual customer would, on both desktop and mobile, and checks the spots where people usually drop off:

  • Homepage and navigation. Can someone tell what you sell and where to go in the first five seconds? Confusing menus and unclear value props lose people before they even get to a product.
  • Product pages. Photos, descriptions, reviews, and whether the "add to cart" button is doing its job or getting lost in the layout.
  • Cart and checkout. This is where the money actually gets made or lost. Extra steps, forced account creation, and surprise shipping costs all show up here.
  • Mobile experience. Most of your traffic is probably on a phone. If the store was only ever checked on a laptop, this is usually where the real problems are hiding.
  • Trust signals. Reviews, return policy, contact info, anything that answers "can I trust this store with my card" before someone gets nervous and closes the tab.

What You Actually Get Back

Not a 40-page report nobody reads. A clear, prioritized list: here's what's costing you sales, here's why, and here's what to fix first. Some of it you can hand to a developer. Some of it might turn into a bigger project if the fixes go deeper than a few tweaks, but the audit itself isn't a sales pitch in disguise. It's an honest look at what's actually happening on your store.

How Much It Costs

Audits start at $500. If you want it ongoing instead of a one-time check, retainers start at $1,200/month, useful if your store changes often or you just want someone keeping an eye on conversion over time.

Worth It If

Your traffic looks fine but sales don't match it. You've never had anyone actually look at the store from a customer's perspective. Or you just want a second set of eyes before you spend money driving more traffic to a store that might be leaking the traffic it already has.
